Year 3

Welcome to Year 3's page all about the wonderful things that we get up to in 3S and 3W.

We are looking forward to a great year with loads of brilliant things going on.

 PE is currently on a Monday.  We have a Cheer Dance coach coming in to teach the  children.  Children need to come to school on a Monday wearing school PE kit.  This is a plain black or red sweatshirt and plain black tracksuit bottoms or legging.  T shirts should be plain white or red.  Children need to be wearing trainers and need to be able to remove their own earrings.  If they cannot remove their own earrings they should not be worn to school on a Monday.

Spelling and maths homework is set weekly on Edshed.  Children should be logging in and completing this each week.  All children have received their logins.

Children should be regularly logging in and using TT Rockstars.  This is a fun way for children to learn and practice their times tables.

Children should be reading regularly at home and returning their reading diaries to school each day.  If children read 5 times in a week they receive a raffle ticket and have the opportunity to win a book in our Friday awards assembly.

There was no awards assembly this week as we were celebrating World Book Day.

In Maths children have been learning about length.  We have been drawing and measuring lines using cm and mm.  We have also been converting between m, cm and mm.

We have been looking at different version of Cinderella in Literacy.  This week we compared the traditional version with The Rough Faced Girl and Yeh Shen.

This week, in geography, we went on a fieldtrip to Ghost Woods.  The children made observations about the woods and thought about the similarities and differences with the Rainforest.

This week in science we started a new topic about soil.  We learnt about what soil is made from and looked at the different layers of formation

Science Boffin visit Feb. 2026.

                          We worked in groups of three to create some slime.  

All of next week we will be celebrating British Science Week - children will be taking part in lots of fun science activities.  Photos will be shared on this page.
